Learning can be enhanced by using the appropriate way. In order to avoid the "boring" feeling in learning, many applications come up to help. One of them is Hot Potatoes.

Hot Potatoes is another application to help you in learning and teaching. The teachers can make some kinds of questions to be answered.

There are five options teachers may use to make questions. They are JCloze, JMatch, JQuiz, JCross, and JMix.

First, I'll explain about JCloze.

JCloze helps you to identify inappropriate problems in a passage. For example, you have to find all of the conjuction in a passage then you have to identify what kind of conjuction is that. Teachers have to prepare the passages and share them to the students. As a teacher, you can follow these steps to use JCloze:

First, prepare an article, musics or videos related to the article. After that, choose JCloze in Hot Potatoes app.

Copy then paste your article there, and block some of the words if you want to make them as the problems.

Then, by choosing "Gap", we can set the problems into this:

We can set the problems easily.

You can save the problems you've made and then export it so that the students can do your work.

You can also add songs to JCloze by selecting the Insert menu and select "Media Object". Then choose "browse" and choose your file, arrange the Players to "Add Windows Media Player", then click OK.

To make JCross, you can follow these steps:

First, prepare the questions for the crosswords, both for the horizontal and vertical.

For example, the horizontal questions are;

2 - Most Crowded, China is the (crowded) country in the world

5 - Hot test, Sahara Desert is the (hot) place on Earth

and the vertical are;

1 - Smallest, Ant is the (small) insect I have ever seen.

3 - Wettest, Hilo is the (wet) city in the US.

You can fill "Comparative and Superlative Forms" in the tittle bar.

Different Page Numbers, Styles on Word and Table of Contents

Microsoft Word helps you to write your work. You can write anything in there and save it in your computers. But, in using Word, you have to know the features so that you won't feel difficult in writing with that app. If you're doing your thesis or something that requires you to put the page numbers there, you can follow these steps:

First, after you open a blank page, you can choose "Insert" on the toolbar and choose "Page Number", then you can choose where is the position of your number.

Then, you can arrange the numbers by selecting "Format Page Numbers", you can adjust whether you want a Roman number (i, ii, iii) or simple number (1, 2, 3).

To combine between Roman number and simple number, you can insert "Break" on the page before the one you want to change, and then choose the "next page".

Then you can start to set up again by repeating the previous steps in choosing Page Number.

Also, you can set the page into different style, from "Portrait" to "Landscape" by following these steps.

First, choose "Page Layout" on the toolbar box and then choose the "Orientation", then you can choose the orientation you want.

Don't forget to choose breaks if you want to change your page numbers and styles.

To make table of contents, you can easily click "References" and directly click "table of content", it is related with "Styles". You have to use the font styles so that the table of content can read your file.

Learning with TED-Ed

As a teacher, you have to find ways to make your lesson funner. With the technology development, learning application also developed. TED-Ed is one of some useful and helpful way in teaching.

To create a lesson through TED-Ed, you can start with selecting a video related to the materials or subjects you want to teach. Copy then paste its URL to the box appeared in TED-Ed. Once you have selected your video, click through into the TED-Ed Lesson editor. You'll be able to add multiple choice questions, open answer questions, discussion prompts, and additional resources to your lesson. After publishing your lesson, you will receive a unique URL for your lesson page. Only you who have the access to this link so you can share the link to the class you teach. As your students submit their work, you can monitor them and see their progresses.

Getting Set-Up with Mendeley

For providing academic services, Mendeley helps the writers or researchers to cite the citation much easier. Using Mendeley is not difficult, you just need to create an account and sign up to make a profile with its application.

Start to cite any citations by choosing a passage from any reliable resources to make your paper more trusted. First things first, open Microsoft Word and try typing and inserting some citations from the "references" toolbar in Word. Then, create a bibliography by using "insert bibliography" on the toolbar. Then, click "go to Mendeley" button on the search box to view your passages lists. Select the citations to add (you can use CTRL key to choose more than one citation). After that, click the "Send Citation to Word Processor" icon.

Google Form

                Google form is a part of Google that can be access with your google accounts. It is usually used for doing observation with questionnaires. You can design your questions with multiple choice questions, description questions, and many more. Google form is one of many method to do observation.

                If you are bored with normal looks, you can design the form with pictures or theme also so everyone who sees it won’t get bored. Don’t forget to share the links to others because they won’t know how to access if they don’t have the links of your forms.

The higher the levels, the more difficult the questions are, but the bigger amount of money we'll have. If we fail in one level, then we have to quit the game or repeat it all over again.                 Speed Match is required players to drag and drop answers onto the correct question to clear the board. Questions always appear in a different order. You can access this game without internet connection. But, unfortunately, the game isn't available to be set by any people.

Sharing Our Thoughts

                There are many ways we can do to share our thoughts. Some prefer to share it orally by telling it to their friends or families, it’s one of many ways that we called communication. But some of them prefer to share it written.

                To write and share our thoughts, we can use a media called Blogger. The contents inside the Blogger are called blog(s). The blogs are our writing and we can let other people who we share our links to freely read it. So it still keeps our privacy. It’s one of an online media. Make sure you have internet connections when you want to make or write blogs. You can access and write through PC or your smartphones.

bit.ly

Bit.ly is a Link Management Platform that gives you opportunities to let you manage your link. In managing your link using bit.ly, you can design it freely, for example, you can shorten it, manage it, and share it.

By copying your original long links, bit.ly can help you to shorten it so that it will be memorized easily. 

Managing the links are also possible to be done by bit.ly. For example, if you were given tasks by your teachers related to the materials, then you can easily shorten your links and replace the links related to the "theme" given by your teachers.

Sharing the links is an easy step to follow. After making it shorter and renaming it, there is an option to directly save or copy the links. You can just simply tap it and share it to your friends.
